2014-15 Pacing Guides

The purpose of this pacing guide is to provide a suggested time frame and instructional sequence for the district. This guide is a continuous work in progress to be edited and re-evaluated annually. Resources, vocabulary, essential questions, and learning targets should be expanded upon with teacher input.
Three broad content areas for North Carolina Science:
  • Physical Science: includes concepts related to the properties and changes of matter, forms of energy, energy transfer and conservation, position and motion of objects and forces affecting motion.
  • Life Science: includes concepts related to organization and development, matter and energy transformation, interdependence, heredity and reproduction, and evolution and diversity.
  • Earth and Space Science: includes concepts related to objects in the universe, the history of Earth, properties of Earth materials, tectonics, energy in the Earth systems, climate, weather, and biochemical cycles.
Some portions of the PSRC Pacing Guides are adapted from the following districts: Brunswick, Burke, Currituck, Davidson, Harnett, Hoke, Scotland, Wake, and Wayne.
All Essential Standards are adapted from the NCDPI Standardized Science Curriculum.
